The Ottawa Valley Farm Show (OVFS) will be held from March 12 to 14 at the Ernst & Young Centre. Sponsored by the Ottawa Valley Seed Growers Association, The OVFS is the largest annual exhibition of its kind held in Ontario east of Toronto. Funding Available for On-Farm Protection of Species At Risk

The Species At Risk Farm Incentive Program (SARFIP) assists with on-farm practices that contribute to healthy and diverse wildlife habitat and is now available for 2012 projects. SARFIP is administered by your Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) with funding from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (OMNR) and the Government of Canada.

Province changes rules for Livestock Compensation Program

Changes to the Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program have been announced by the Province of Ontario effective April 1, 2012. The program provides financial assistance to producers whose livestock, poultry and honey bees have been damaged by wildlife. The Rural Affairs Office administers the program for the City of Ottawa.
