Mayor to present ideas for building a better city at Planning Summit

Residents are invited to attend the City of Ottawa Planning Summit and join in the discussion of the challenges we face in shaping the future of Ottawa. Mayor Jim Watson will lead off the discussion and participate in an Open Forum with Planning Committee Chair Councillor Peter Hume.

Keynote speaker for the morning discussion will be Pamela Blais, award winning author of Perverse Cities: Hidden Subsidies, Wonky Policy and Urban Sprawl who will speak on suburban development. The afternoon address will be provided by Jeffrey Tumlin, an internationally known leading thinker in transit-oriented development, with his ideas on how growth could take place around our future Light Rail Transit stations.

Summit participants will take part in round-table discussions on issues such as suburban development, growth in rural areas and community design plans.
