New Ontario honey regulations

The province of Ontario has initiated a new honey regulation. The new regulation replaces, modernizes and consolidates three old regulations under the Farm Products Grades and Sales Act.

As of July 1, 2011 any non CFIA registered Ontario honey producer can offer honey for sale under these new regulations which basically means that there are new Ontario # 1, 2, and 3 grade standards available to be used for honey produced in Ontario. The color and moisture requirements are the same as CFIA grades but the Ontario grades will allow our producers to avoid becoming federally registered as long as their honey is produced and sold only in Ontario.
