PUBLIC NOTICE: Intersection Modifications at Eagleson Road and Flewellyn Road

The City of Ottawa is proposing to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Eagleson Road and Flewellyn Road.  The intersection is located approximately 425 m south of the intersection of Eagleson Road and Hope Side Road and currently operates with a stop sign only on Flewellyn Road.  This intersection handles moderate traffic volumes and the traffic conditions have met the minimum criteria for the installation of traffic control signals.

The City of Ottawa has reviewed the operations at this intersection and has selected a single-lane roundabout as the preferred method of traffic control.  In addition to the construction of a roundabout, street lighting will be installed at the intersection and on all approaches of the intersection.  Paved shoulders will be provided on Eagleson Road north or Flewellyn Road, and on Flewellyn Road approaching the intersection.  Pedestrian facilities will be provided at the intersection.

This project is being undertaken to improve the overall operation at the intersection. The City of Ottawa intends to proceed with the design and construction of this project, to be completed by the spring of 2012.

Public comments are invited for consideration into the intersection design. Any comments must be received by Thursday 28 April 2011.
