Low-Income Energy Assistance Program & Winter Warmth

Are you a Hydro One or Hydro Ottawa customer and struggling to pay your bill? Then maybe the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) could be the answer.

LEAP came into effect on January 1, 2011. LEAP offers assistance to residents on low income who might experience difficulty paying their Hydro One or Hydro Ottawa utility bill. Unlike the Winter Warmth program (which provides assistance with Enbridge Gas bill for winter months only), LEAP is a year-round emergency financial program where Hydro customers can get assistance once per 12-month period. Residents wishing to apply will need to supply family and financial information which is used for application purposes only.

For more information and assistance applying for either LEAP for Hydro or Winter Warmth for Enbridge, residents can contact the Nepean, Rideau and Osgoode Community Resource Centre (NROCRC) in the Merivale Shopping Mall (opposite Shoppers Drug Mart) or at 613-596-5626. Or contact the local Community Health or Resource Centre for your area.
