The Ottawa Carleton Plowmen’s Association (OCPA) Plowing Match is set for August 25 - 26, 2017, near Twin Elm, at the corner of Brophy and Moodie Drives (4700 Brophy Drive).
On Friday, Aug. 25th, there will be a brief opening ceremony at 11 a.m. followed by a VIP Plowing Competition and a light lunch and awards ceremony. From 1 - 3 p.m. a “Plowing Workshop” will take place with coaches and equipment provided, to encourage everyone – including the public – to learn more about the art of plowing.
Rain or shine, the OCPA Plowing Match starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26th, with competitors from across the county vying for a spot to move on to the next level of plowing perfection using both modern and vintage tractors. The day will also showcase displays, vendors and farm equipment to examine and enjoy. All are welcome, and the $3 admission includes parking.
Winners will be announced at a banquet that evening – all are welcome. Banquet tickets are $25 and should be purchased in advance by calling 613-913-0721.
Plowers must plow at local matches to be eligible to plow at the International Plowing Match (IPM) and Rural Expo in Walton (Huron County), Ontario, September 19 – 23, which is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the IPM.
